Adrenaline Defeat Goannas
Adelaide beats Brisbane on the Road
The Adelaide Adrenaline have defeated the Brisbane Goannas 7-2 earlier tonight in Boondall in their second to last game of the regular season. The visitors came out a bit sluggish in the opening period and although being outshot 15-13 Adelaide scored the only goal of the period as Andrea Steranko kept her hot form scoring from Kate Tihema.
Adelaide came out flying in the second period and started to dominate the game and they were rewarded as Beth Kavanagh scored followd by Steranko with her second and there other linemate Kate Tihema chipping in making it 4-0 after 2 periods of play.
The third period saw both teams with early chances but some great goaltending by Claudia Tom and Kristy Bruske kept it close but Adelaide increased the lead as Kavanagh scored her second of the game followed by the prettiest goal of the night as Meggie Ayris made a beautiful pass to Kelly Harris and she wired a shot past Bruske making it 6-0. Brisbane was finally rewarded when Natasha Farrier beat Tom giving the home crowd something to cheer about.
However Kate Tihema scored in response making it 7-1 and with the Goannas pulling their goalie Farrier scored with 14 seconds left making it a 7-2 final. With Melbourne beating Newcastle 4-1 tomorrows game an early start at 8.30 am at Acacia Ridge could decide who finishes as minor round premiers.
